Berkshire-Rome Vendors' Market is Rome, NY's premier Friday downtown farmers market. Open every Friday starting April 29th and running through November 18th, giving vendors one of the longest running seasonal farmers markets in Central New York to sell their products at.
Hours of operation are from 9am-6pm – rain, shine, snow, sleet or high winds. Our customers come out in all weather conditions.
Why Fridays? Fridays are the best market day in Rome, giving vendors the ability to sell to a customer base which still knows how to cook, party and put food up for the year. Fridays gives our customers the ability to buy everything at one stop, fresh from the producer, before the weekend, allowing them to better use their weekend. Sales are twice as good compared to mid-week markets because our customers are buying for the weekend, not just one or two midweek meals. If you as a vendor or customer have never tried a Friday market, consider trying the Berkshire-Rome Vendors' Market located in downtown Rome across from Fort Stanwix National Monument.
Located in the Berkshire Bank Parking lot at 101 West Dominick Street, corner of Erie Blvd. and North James Street. Easy to find, high visibility, easy access for vendors and customers. On-site parking for vendors and customers. Handicap accessible in a clean, flat blacktop parking lot.
No mud, animals or trees to cause problems for the safety of all.. The Market accepts FMNP, WIC, EBT, Senior FMNP, Health Bucks, Fresh Connect Checks and many other government program vouchers. Vendors are required to be enrolled in these programs if they wish to accept these items.
The Berkshire-Rome Vendors' Market started out as the Rome Farmers Market over 18 years ago in an attempt by CCE of Oneida County to bring back farmers markets to the local area; After several years they handed off ownership to The City of Rome and for the next several years the city ran it, building it, after they had decided the city no longer wanted to run it. Wagner Farms, as a Rome based business and long-time vendor at the market, stepped up as the sponsor and formed the current Berkshire-Rome Vendors' Market with cooperation with the Berkshire Bank for use of their parking lot. Wagner Farms has the ability to run the market, while advertising and marketing the market to the Central New York area. With the cooperation of all the vendors, six years ago Wagner Farms took over and grew the market to the largest market in the Rome Area. By the second year of operations average yearly sales of the market in whole were over $125,000 and customer counts were over 800 / day. The average customer spends about $20.00 per visit to the market. Wagner Farms is well known in Rome, and works with other companies in Rome to promote the market as well.
